Can't find what you're looking for? I have a 60mbps internet, but only get around 2-5mbps ?I tried 4 hours, did research here and googled, I still couldn't figure out how I can find the 5G signal for my two laptops..Both iPhone 6, iPhone 5 and Ipad found 5G and non-5G signal, but my wife and my latop could only find the non 5G signal, which is much slower than 5G (only 40Mbs download speed)Is there any configuration I can change so I can use the 5G wireless connection which is 180 Mbs download? I upgraded to HF150 in January a couple mos. If you left click on the wifi symbol located on the lower right hand corner of your screen, it should bring up all of the local networks, ranked basically by receive power, so both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz networks should be at the top of the list, unless you have a nearby neighbour who is running a wifi router with enough power to put his network at the top of that list. All other devices is working OK(Apple's,Andorid's and so on). The Hitron I have is set to the default "Gateway" mode since in "Bridge" mode I kept getting internet freezes (sometimes 3 times a day) and would have to power cycle the Hitron, in "Gateway" mode everything seems to be working well and have not had any freezes since.Looks like this was one of those issues Shaw didn't want to disclose to the public. Assuming that the 5 Ghz network is received by the laptop now, you can change the network priorities so that the 5 Ghz network is the network of choice.Once that is done, if you disconnect from the 2.4 Ghz network, the laptop should then reconnect to the 5 Ghz network. Almost like there is an IP conflict, but I set static IP and that did not fix it either. When I pull up the Connection software from the EasySetupKey, I can SEE the 5ghz network on there. An update needs to be pushed out for those users effected. Even Windows 10 on Bootcamp is working perfectly with 5ghz network on the Mackbook, so it seems is not a hardware issue. 3 days later, new modem, same thing - 5G drops out randomly. Still seeting the behavior? To make sure that the laptop is seeing the 5 Ghz network, you can load inSSIDer on your laptop.
See the below video to learn more about how and why the new 5G technology coming out is going to be so much more dangerous. Check to see:Try closing apps and reducing the number of connected devices, to see if performance improves for the devices still connected. It might help to restore your modem to its factory settings.
One thing that makes 5G more dangerous is because of the shorter length of millimeter waves (MMV).
All our settings seem fine though.
If you can access a website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs.
You can manually change that list priority by following the procedure as outlined in the following link:To make sure that the laptop is seeing the 5 Ghz network, you can load inSSIDer on your laptop. Hey , it may be a modem issue.
To rule out problems with a single device, try looking for the broadcast from more than one computer or mobile device to ensure its not a problem with the device you want to connect instead of the router.
If you have a laptop and it has a dual band NIC, you could try using inSSIDer. It may be a setting or something you need to enable on the TV. Some adapters are installed inside your computer, while others are external USB devices. But then I don't understand how I can't find the 5GHz network on my network list.Would really appreciate if someone could help out! Hi Viven, I suspected my laptop might not supported 5Ghz, as it's more than 3 years old... so does that mean the maximum I can get is 50 Mbs download speed (so far that is what I got from 2.4Ghz wireless connection) cause if that is the case I should call Rogers to reduce from100u to 60, since I would never be able to get more than 50 Mbs download speed? Nothing seems to have changed hmm If you don't follow this guidance, devices might not connect reliably to your network, to all routers on your network, or to all available bands of your routers. The only way for us to use wifi is to use shaw-numbersnumbersnumbers-5G Didn’t seem to help. You can use this at any time to test the quality of your connection, and if you’re having any issues, you can use it to gauge your progress on getting them resolved. If you mix up the two during setup or streaming, you will not be able to connect. Just ask! If your other devices are able to connect to the 5G network, then the modem is broadcasting the network properly.
After setting up both 2.4 and 5g networks (renaming -2.4G and -5G after each SSID), we noticed that absolutely none of our devices can connect to 2.4G, only 5G. technical support services.
