Reggae icon David Rodigan touched down in Bristol last month to celebrate the release of his memoir Rodigan: My Life in Reggae. I was fond of Rodigan beforehand, but I'm smitten now. An absolute pleasure from start to finish .I didn't know much about David Rodigan beforehand but what an interesting life he's had.I really enjoyed this book! Reggae's been lucky to have him' Ian Harrison, MOJO 'Rodigan was a major part of my childhood, he played the hottest tunes and in a style that just resonated with me and millions like me. Great book for those of us who remember Rodigan from his days at Capital Radio. Nothing works like pure unadulterated passion, and that's what is liberally sprinkled across every page, along with a hefty dollop of hard earned knowledge. Start by marking “Rodigan: My Life in Reggae” as Want to Read: An old-fashioned gentleman with the heart of a child, full to the brim of his dapper hat with love for music. If all of those Goodreaders who awarded this book either 4 or 5 stars -- 85 of you, by my count -- would send me just 12p each, that’d be me reimbursed the cover price of £9.99 [plus a bit of my incurred shipping costs, the remainder of which I’m willing to eat myself]. Would have been better as an informal musical history rather than an autobiography. And for as long as I have known about reggae music...I have known about David Rodigan.I had never even heard of David Rodigan or knew what a ‘sound clash’ was until a friend gave me a CD from a German reggae magazine called Riddim back in 2008 or so. I'm already looking forward to re-reading it!Updated my rating from 4 to 5 stars after rereading my Kindle highlights. I loved that although it tells his personal story it is much more than that, and really tells the story of reggae and gives lots of insights into the context of the music scene. I have a long listening list to work through off the back of this. i didn't know anyone that was interested in the same music as me, internet was still in the dial up phase, so i would go online, read some forums and articles, write down important songs, download one of them in the period ranging from one to couple of hours while giving my computer aids along the process. 978-1-4721-2559-0 I must admit that it brought back memories of clubs I used to attend and records I used to listen to.Great book for those of us who remember Rodigan from his days at Capital Radio. Not so here. all of that for one song. I was fond of Rodigan beforehand, but I'm smitten now. Contenu protégé Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. Not so here. It's insightful, inspirational and a joy to read. This is Rodigan's voice and it comes through loud and clear. Even as a fan of Jamaican music myself, it's pointed me in the direction of music I didn't know of and that I'm now super-keen to check out. The worst I can say about it is it's written as if it's being told, like reading interview notes.
